as per bruce's suggestion, i've made two alternate versions of the daisy picture. i like them both!

  1. Love that yellow green color. I never thought it could look better than nature.

  2. Damn this confounded computer. I just lost a long commentary to a bad click. Here's the quick and dirty version.

    1. I like this.

    2. The left-hand petals are lost in the white blob of daisies in the background. These can either be painted down to green or burned to grey to bring the foreground petals back.

    3. That dark green blob in the center above the daisy is a strong tonal element. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it, but it's definitely drawing attention away from the daisy. It's not the end of the world, certainly, but something worth mentioning.

  3. hey sean, i appreciate your input!

    1. thanks!

    2. i think this was actually the issue i was having with the shot, not the placement of the daisy.

    3. this is one of the things i like about it! the dome of the daisy is in the dome of the tree is in the dome of the clouds etc etc.

  4. I just opened [this] laptop and found that Photoshop still had the daisy image that I was messing with; white on left painted green. I don't see a way to post it as a comment, though. Anyone? Email maybe?

  5. On the black and white one I might try tweaking things with the B&W conversion tool in PS. The yellow in the center of the daisy looks kinda muted in the B&W version.
