self portraits.....

in the AM light....
shot with the POS P+S

I ran them through color fx pro.
using filters that emulate what I used to do in the 90's with Alt Process and film....

  1. i love the first one a lot - it's more about you whereas the second is more about your necklace.

  2. Yeah, the first one is excellent. Composition is interesting ... and I love the greenish hue.

  3. I'm down with both of these shots, preferring the second to the first. However, they seem more like a portrait of that necklace rather than self-portraits.

I dunno though. The distressing of the jacket in the second shot definitely helps spin a tale. Likewise your beard in the first. I definitely get where you're coming from. Now that I look again, there are actually some chin pubes in the second shot as well. Nice.

It's just that that pendant has such a strong graphic form that it kind of blasts away deeper interpretation of the shot.

I'm kind of left wanting some other small indication that we're thinking about a person here and not clothing or accessories, if you're going for an actual self-portrait. More beard, maybe? A finger?

I had to stretch a bit for these comments. I like both images just fine. The point of focus in the bottom photo, along with the shallow DoF makes for an interesting little surprise. The expectation is for that cross to be in fine focus. Fuck it, though. Better w/zipper focus.

  4. Like the beard in the first. Good mix of textures. Harsher light on the shirt would bring up its texture more too.
